We have achieved a significant milestone with the news this week of planning consent for our site in Oswestry, Shropshire.
The granting of planning permission for the gas-powered power plant in Shropshire has increased our portfolio of consented sites to over 300MW of battery and gas peaking facilities. We have ambitious growth plans with a strong pipeline of future sites both in the planning process and in development.
“Achieving over 300MW is an incredible milestone which we are extremely proud of,” said our Managing Director, Andrew King. “Our sites support the energy transition of the UK’s electricity industry through providing a flexible, decentralised supply of electricity that can be called on at short notice to meet the growing energy needs of the UK, at times when demand is high, and when supply may be constrained.”
In recent years, there has been a large reduction in the generation of coal-fired electricity, an increase in renewable energy and growth in the demand for electricity. This is forecast to continue as the energy sector continues to balance the demands of providing affordable, reliable and low carbon energy.
